ASSISES PORTUAIRES À DIVES-SUR-MER (CALVADOS)

Avec ses 600 anneaux et un potentiel de 400 mouillages dans l’estuaire, le port de DIVES-SUR-MER est l’un des tous premiers ports de plaisance du CALVADOS et de BASSE-NORMANDIE. Sa situation géographique étant exceptionnelle (à 30 minutes de CAEN, une heure de ROUEN, deux heures de PARIS), il possède un très important potentiel de développement mais sa filière nautique a besoin d’être organisée.

Au moment où le Conseil Général s’oriente vers la négociation d’une nouvelle Délégation de Service Public pour le port et l’avant-port, il a semblé nécessaire de rassembler la filière nautique autour des "Assises portuaires" afin d’imaginer une stratégie de développement pour les dix prochaines années.

Les assises, organisées conjointement par la Ville de DIVES-SUR-MER et la COMMUNAUTE DE COMMUNES DE L’ESTUAIRE DE LA DIVES doivent permettre d’apporter une contribution utile à l’élaboration du Cahier des Charges de la Délégation de Service Public élaboré par le CONSEIL GENERAL DU CALVADOS.

Trois ateliers sont organisés :

- Atelier N° 1 : animé par Adrien SANQUER, Ingénieur Spécialiste en Tourisme, Nautisme et Plaisance chez Créocéan au sein du pôle de compétence "Economie et Développement du Littoral" sur le thème "Quelle stratégie pour fédérer tous les acteurs de la filière nautique et animer l’estuaire de La Dives ?"
- Atelier n° 2 : animé par MM. Denis LABIGNE et Erick LE NY sur le thème : "Quelles orientations d’urbanisme prendre pour accompagner le développement de la filière nautique dans l’estuaire ?"
- Atelier n° 3 : animé Adrien SANQUER, Créocéan et Olivier COLIN sur le thème "Port Guillaume et l’estuaire de La Dives : "Quel développement économique pour notre territoire ?"

THETIS EMR 2013

CREOCEAN attended the International Convention on Marine Renewable Energies, THETIS EMR 2013. 

THETIS EMR 2013 was held in Brest on the 10th and 11th April.
Michel COLINET, Director of Offshore Projects and Christophe Donnard, Head of our Agency in Brittany, welcomed a large number of visitors on our booth.

MAPPING OF BENTHIC MARINE HABITAT: FROM THE ACQUISITION TO THE RESTITUTION (CARHAMB'AR SYMPOSIUM)

Four CREOCEAN engineers (Headquarters and Mediterranean Agency), as a large number of actors in the scientific community (IFREMER, Marine Areas Protection Agency, private consultants, park managers, professionals, including operators of marine aggregates), were able to attend to numerous presentations and discussions on the acquisition protocols, new tools of teledetection and modeling, and of course habitat maps and typologies (existing or in progress).

At this symposium, Romain Legras, head of the CREOCEAN Agency in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Corsica, presented the work habitat mapping conducted as part of the study "cable ABYSSEA" for a project of Center for Testing and expertise in deep waters around the "Ile du Levant".

About the program CARTHAM launched in 2010 (and for which the National Marine Areas Protection Agency ordered to CREOCEAN the inventory and mapping of marine habitats of several Natura 2000 sites: Pertuis Charentais and the Gironde Estuary, "Plateau de Rochebonne", area off Hourtin, Arcachon Bay, Basque Coast), the work of CREOCEAN and of Pierre-Guy Sauriau (Benthologue of La Rochelle university) was cited several times including on the merits of the choices made by this group for the characterization of mosaics habitats to describe the richness of benthic environments.

ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE "JOURNAL OF COASTAL RESEARCH" IN FEBRUARY 2013.

CREOCEAN took part, with the BRGM (Bureau of Geological and Mining Research) and the University of Caen/Normandy,  in the writing of and article published in the "Journal of Coastal Research", one of the leading international journals on coastal processes, published every two months by the Coastal Education & Research Foundation [CERF].

This article's subject is the Multidecadal Atoll Shoreline Change on Manihi and Manuae, French Polynesia, an analysis of the mobility of the coastline over fifty years on two atolls of French Polynesia (South Pacific): Manihi (Northwest of Tuamotus Archipelago) and Manuae (Eastern of "Société" islands archipelago).

COLLOQUE SUR LA GESTION DES RECIFS ARTIFICIELS

La Ville de Marseille et ses partenaires ont organisé un colloque euro-méditerranéen sur la gestion des récifs artificiels, au palais du Pharo (Marseille), du 5 au 8 février 2013.
Ce colloque avait pour but: 

- d'échanger sur la gestion des récifs artificiels leur rôle pour une gestion durable et responsable des ressources, 
- de créer un lieu de rencontres pour les porteurs de projets, les gestionnaires, les pêcheurs, les décideurs, les financeurs, les scientifiques, les éducateurs de l'environnement et tous les acteurs concernés,
- de partager les expériences de chacun et comparer les actions développées dans chaque pays,
- d'élaborer des propositions concrètes.

GROUPE SCE ROUNDTABLES IN MONTPELLIER AGENCY ON JANUARY 24TH, 2013

On the occasion of the 10th and 15th anniversaries of the  Languedoc-Roussillon SCE CREOCEAN agencies (managed respectively by Maud Joalland and Thibault SCHVARTZ), located in the same premises in Montpellier, GROUPE SCE organized 6 roundtables on January 24th. These six roundtables listed below gave the opportunity to our local teams to present their activities and projects to participants :
Roundtable 1 - "The territorial project: from its construction to its operational regulatory implementation" chaired by Sébastien Ramora, SCE urban planner
Roundtable 2 - "Different approaches to underwater mapping" chaired by Thibault Schvartz, CREOCEAN marine biologist, and Caroline Labaune, CREOCEAN Doctor in marine sedimentology

Roundtable 6 - "How to describe the project by the landscape", chaired by Christian Matteau, SCE landscape architect 
Mr Michael Delafosse, Community Councillor and Deputy Mayor in charge of urban planning, closed this day which was followed by a cocktail.

SEPTEMBER 20TH 2012 CREOCEAN MEETING IN LA ROCHELLE

Around sixty people attended the CREOCEAN annual meeting on Sept. 20th in LA ROCHELLE.

This year's presentations and discussions focused on the theme: "MARINE PROTECTED AREAS: UTILITIES AND CONSTRAINTS."

Indeed, if one conceives the usefulness and the need to protect sensitive marine areas, are we able to understand and accept the constraints towards the local human population and use of sites involved ?

This issue is a recurring problem in coastal development on which CREOCEAN teams often work.

Our four speakers presented their complementary perspectives:

Mr François COLAS, Head of the Study Mission of a natural marine park on the Gironde estuary and the "Pertuis Charentais", within the FRENCH MARINE PROTECTED AREAS AGENCY, presented us challenges for the protection of marine areas (from international to local stage) and how to manage this issue.

Mr Jean-François FOUNTAINE, President of the FRENCH FEDERATION OF NAUTICAL INDUSTRIES, explained why, in the economic turmoil experienced by the marine industry in France, the creation of Marine Protected Areas is seen as an additional constraint by yachting professionals.

Mr Laurent CHAMPEAU, Director of the Poitou-Charentes REGIONAL SHELLFISH COMMITTEE, talked about the level of compatibility between Marine protected Areas and shellfish farming and the advantages and disadvantages to this economic activity.

Mr Jean-Louis LEONARD, Vice-President of the FRENCH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LITTORAL ELECTED LOCAL COUNCILLORS, shared with us the vision of a littoral mayor, namely the difficult political compromise between the beneficial objectives of protection and the requirements of local development of the territory. 

Questions from a wide variety of audiences (teachers, researchers, local and regional advisers, port operations managers, Head of local IFREMER station) were numerous and allowed fruitful exchanges which continued during the cocktail following this very successful meeting.

CONFERENCE ON POSIDONIA MEADOWS IN MARSEILLE

At the end of the study carried out by CREOCEAN and the SCIL (Conseil Scientifique des Iles de Lérins) on Management of Posidonia benches for the PACA region, the DREAL PACA and the ADEME, Deborah PITHOIS and Romain LEGRAS, Creocean Agency PACA CORSE, co-chaired a conference on Posidonia meadows in Marseille.

The theme of the conference was:
"The dry leaves of Posidonia form banks on the beaches and they are very effective against waves during storms which become more and more frequent and violent. However, their presence is resented by beach users. Local elected officials must face the climate change while meeting their citizens requirements for "clean beaches" almost all year round. What solutions to help municipalities manage this problem? How to inform and educate people to accept these benches on the beach? These are the questions that discussions will respond based on the results of the study conducted by CSIL and CREOCEAN, the experiment in Corsica and the testimony of cities.
In all, over 100 people attended the day: 26 municipalities or intermunicipal structures (ncluding Roquebrune-sur-Argens, Hyères-les-Palmiers, Le Lavandou, Cannes, Six Fours les Plages, Saint Mandrier, Antibes), 14 consultants, 15 associations, 10 environmental managers, 20 institutions, one fishermen's corporation, 7 universities.

CARBON SEQUESTRATION BY BROWN ALGAES IN QATAR

CREOCEAN and QDVC have signed the first phase of a brown algae (Hormophysa cuneifornis)carbon sequestration project in Qatar, as part of QDVC's commitment towards sustainable development.

CREOCEAN, thanks to its technical expertise, proposed to QDVC, VINCI CONSTRUCTION-QATARI DIAR consortium in the construction of large scale development projects in Qatar, to study the feasibility of using the ressources in brown algae in the coastal waters of Qatar as a source of carbon sequestration.

This project will commence with the spatial evaluation of the ressources on the west coast of the country. It will be followed by an estimation of the overall biomass in order to understand its capacities to play a role in decreasing the CO2 emissions from various projects in Qatar.

GENERAL MASTER PLAN OF FRENCH POLYNESIA

CREOCEAN and its partners, "Urbanisme et Programmation Consultants" and "EDR-Conseils" were retained for 2 years to complete the General Master Plan of French Polynesia.

FRANCO-BRAZILIAN SEMINAR AND RIO OIL&GAS EXPO AND CONFERENCE FROM 17TH TO 20TH SEPTEMBER 2012

In the context of actions supported by the DGCIS (Department for Competitiveness, Industry and Services) and UbiFrance, Maritime Competitiveness Clusters of Britanny and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur-Corsica and Novalog with manufacturers, consultancy companies and research centers, organized from 17th to 20th September, 2012, a technology partnerships mission in Brazil and attended the Rio Oil & Gas Exhibition.

Our Director of International Development Eric DUTRIEUX, accompanied by our partner located in Brazil (Brazil ETPS) has attended the Franco-Brazilian seminar co-organized by UbiFrance and FIRJAN "Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Rio de Janeiro" on the Oil & Gas in Brazil. This helped to assess opportunities in the Brazilian market and technological challenges related to the exploration and exploitation of oil fields.
Representatives of Petrobras, Rio Invest Sebrae, Total and Technip presented the technical and economic issues and how to access these new markets.

Many conferences were held, including that of the Petrobras Group's concerning procurement procedures and the procedures for obtaining approvals for foreign companies. It was also possible to visit the R&D Petrobras center (CENPES).

12TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CORAL REEFS (ICRS 2012).

CREOCEAN attended in Cairns, Australia from 9 to 13 July 2012 the 12th International Conference on coral reefs (ICRS 2012).
This conference brought together internationally renowned experts, with nearly 2500 participants, 80 countries, 2000 scientific papers on major themes. The latest international experts in coral reef science, their research and conclusions are essential to inform policy makers on national and international protocols for conservation and sustainable use of coral reefs. Our specialist in coral reef ecology, Cécile RICHARD, presented at the symposium her latest R & D work carried out in Qatar on the use of PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulated) fluorometer for monitoring the health of coral reefs. A poster on the Sensitivity Atlas of the southern coast of Yemen (from Balhaf to Mukalla) was also presented.

SAILING EURO-MEDITERRANEAN CONGRESS ON 24 AND 25 MAY 2012 AT THE PALAIS DES CONGRÈS OF AJACCIO

Romain LEGRAS head of our Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur-Corsica agency, represented CREOCEAN to the Sailing Euro-Mediterranean congress on 24 and 25 May 2012 at the Palais des Congrès of Ajaccio. Indeed, he presented a major project commissioned by the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CORSICA on business development of the marine sector in Corsica and the implementation of pilot project INNAUTIC within the Operational Programme France-Maritime Italy 2007-2013 (folder managed by our business manager for Boating & Yachting, Adrien SANQUER).

SÉMINAIRE SUR LE MILIEU MARIN ORGANISÉ POUR LA 6ÈME FOIS PAR LA DREAL DE CORSE

CREOCEAN was well represented at the Seminar on the Marine Environment organized for the sixth time by DREAL Corsica (Service Biodiversity, Water and Landscape - Marine and Littoral Mission) which took place from May 14 to 16 at Stareso (Calvi, Corsica ): Claude REVERET made ​​4 presentations: (i) inspection of submerged and semi-submerged caves on the Corsica coast, (ii) review of two studies in Languedoc Roussillon and PACA concerning a landscaping index for underwater environments, (iii) application of the landscaping index and development of a landscaping index for caves on the Corsican coast, (iv) estimation of the vitality of Lithophyllum byssoides in the Gulf of Galeria. Thibault SCHVARTZ presented the use of the technique PAM fluorometry for assessing the health of sensitive ecosystems in the Mediterranean (Posidonia coralligenous).

PROJET SEM-REV (SYSTÈME D’EXPÉRIMENTATION EN MER POUR LA RÉCUPÉRATION DE L’ENERGIE DES VAGUES) AUTORISÉ

Unique en France, ce site de 1 km2 au large du Croisic, dont la maîtrise d’ouvrage est assurée par l’Ecole Centrale de Nantes, consiste en une zone d’expérimentation en mer qui accueillera des prototypes houlomoteurs destinés à convertir l’énergie des vagues en électricité pour des essais de moyenne à longue durée en conditions opérationnelles. Le site sera équipé avec l’instrumentation de mesure océanographique, l’infrastructure électrique le reliant à la côte, et un local sur le littoral pour l’accueil des équipements de monitoring et de contrôle du système depuis la terre, ainsi que pour l’accueil des chercheurs, ingénieurs et techniciens en charge des mesures et du contrôle. Ce projet s’inscrit au Contrat de Projet Etat Région 2007-2013.
Christophe DONNARD, Responsable de l'Agence CREOCEAN Bretagne, a dirigé et coordonné la réalisation du dossier d’autorisation et d’étude d’impact de ce projet, qui fait appel aux compétences pluridisciplinaires de Créocéan : modélisation numérique, campagnes embarquées pour la caractérisation des peuplements benthiques, réglementation, évaluation des incidences sur l’environnement, etc.
Outre le prototype houlomoteur développé par l’Ecole Centrale, les premières sociétés utilisatrices de ce site seront la société monégasque SBM Offshore ainsi qu'Alstom-division hydroliennes.

NATHALIE KOSCIUSKO-MORIZET RELANCE LA PLAISANCE À PORT-EN-BESSIN

L’explication d’Adrien Sanquer se poursuit sur le site

Mardi 23 août, la ministre de l'écologie a visité Port-en-Bessin, après avoir récompensé le projet de port de plaisance de la ville, à Paris, dans la matinée.

Créé en 2009 pour encourager le développement des activités de plaisance sur le littoral français, le label « Port exemplaire » permet aux collectivités territoriales de bénéficier d'une aide financière de l'Etat pour la conduite de leurs projets.
Port-en-Bessin fait partie des 9 lauréats sur les 25 postulants, du troisième et dernier appel à projet de "Port de plaisance exemplaire", lancé par l'Etat. Présenté par Adrien SANQUER, Responsable de l'activité Nautisme et Plaisance du pôle "Economie et Développement du Littoral" de Créocéan , le projet de Port-en-Bessin prévoit l'ouverture de 388 places sur ponton au lieu des 90 actuelles, d'un pôle nautique et d'un terre-plein balnéaire.

5ÈMES RENCONTRES NATIONALES DES ACTIVITÉS PORTUAIRES ET DU DÉVELOPPEMENT DURABLE

Les équipes de SCE et CREOCEAN ont participé aux 5èmes Rencontres Nationales des Activités Portuaires et du Développement Durable les 11 & 12 mai à Nice.

SCE et CREOCEAN, filiales de GROUPE SCE, associent notamment leurs compétences et leurs expertises pour la mise en œuvre de projets portuaires durables : économie du littoral, océanographie, environnement et ingénierie civile portuaire.

Ce salon leur a donné notamment l'opportunité de présenter la réalisation d'un port à sec automatique dans la forme de radoub du port de DIEPPE : un projet d'aménagement unique en France qui allie extension d’un port en milieu urbain et reconversion d’un ouvrage patrimonial.

JOURNEE INFORMATION ET REFLEXION SUR LA BIODIVERSITE

Comme chaque année, Créocéan a organisé une journée annuelle d'information et de réflexion, qui s'est déroulée le jeudi 16 septembre 2010 au siège social à La Rochelle.

2010 a été déclarée « Année Internationale de la Biodiversité ». Trois interventions nous ont donné l’occasion, d’échanger nos points de vue sur la biodiversité en milieu littoral.

Rares sont les opposants à ce concept de préservation de la biodiversité.
Mais en fait, que signifie-t-il exactement ? Pourquoi faut-il donc protéger cette diversité de la faune et de la flore ? Ne serait-il pas plus simple de se contenter de quelques espèces emblématiques et de laisser tomber celles qui ne servent à rien ? (c’est la notion de « mauvaises herbes » qui ressort … !). Ce serait quand même moins contraignant pour le développement de nos projets d’aménagements côtiers ou off-shore !

Comme chaque année, nous avons organisé une journée annuelle d'information et de réflexion, qui s'est déroulée le jeudi 16 septembre 2010 au siège social de Créocéan. 
Trois interventions nous ont donné l’occasion, pour l’année de la biodiversité, d’échanger nos points de vue sur la biodiversité en milieu littoral. 
En effet, 2010 a été déclarée « Année Internationale de la Biodiversité ». Rares sont les opposants à ce concept de préservation de la biodiversité.
Mais en fait, que signifie-t-il exactement ? Pourquoi faut-il donc protéger cette diversité de la faune et de la flore ? Ne serait-il pas plus simple de se contenter de quelques espèces emblématiques et de laisser tomber celles qui ne servent à rien ? (c’est la notion de « mauvaises herbes » qui ressort … !). Ce serait quand même moins contraignant pour le développement de nos projets d’aménagements côtiers ou off-shore !

CET ETE, CREOCEAN ENQUETE AUPRES DES PLAISANCIERS DU PORT DE CHERBOURG

Les ports de Cherbourg, Barfleur et Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue ont été retenus par la Région pour une enquête sur les attentes des plaisanciers en escale.

AUDITION DE CREOCEAN À L'ASSEMBLÉE NATIONALE DANS LE CADRE DE LA TEMPÊTE XYNTHIA

M. Jean-Marc Sornin, Président Directeur Général de CREOCEAN, accompagné de M. Patrice Walker, docteur en géologie maritime, et M. Georges Claverie, spécialiste d’hydrodynamique maritime, ont été auditionnés le mardi 4 mai 2010 à l'Assemblée Nationale dans le cadre d'une Mission d'information sur les raisons des dégâts provoqués par la tempête Xynthia.

JOURNEE D'INFORMATION ET DE REFLEXION SUR LE "GRENELLE DE LA MER"

Comme chaque année, Créocéan a organisé une journée annuelle d'information et de réflexion, qui s'est déroulée le jeudi 24 septembre 2009 au siège social à La Rochelle.
Cette année, plus de 50 personnes ont participé aux conférences et ateliers de discussions portant sur le thème " Allons-nous éviter le Grenelle de l'Amer ? "
En effet, dans le cadre du Grenelle de la Mer, des tables rondes ont été organisées au pas de charge par 4 groupes de travail entre Avril et Juillet et des orientations ont été proposées pour la gestion des activités maritimes et la gouvernance du domaine marin. Mais Créocéan a souhaité continuer le débat en se posant les vraies questions :
- Qu'en sera-t-il vraiment au niveau décisionnel et opérationnel ?
- Tous ces travaux d'expert ont-ils débouché sur des actions concertées ?
- Les 138 engagements en faveur de la mer et du littoral seront-ils suivis de réalisations concrètes ?
- Les actes seront-ils à la hauteur des besoins et des attentes ?

- de Alain MERCKELBAGH, ancien directeur du département Environnement Littoral de l'IFREMER et auteur de l'ouvrage "Et si le littoral allait jusqu'à la mer ?" (Editions QUAE, mai 2009)
complétées par les discussions avec les membres du public, dont le directeur du Port Atlantique La Rochelle, Monsieur Jean-Pierre CHALUS, le Président de l'Université de La Rochelle,Monsieur Gérard BLANCHARD et Monsieur Jean Michel GAIGNE, Directeur du port de plaisance Saint Quay Port d'Armor ainsi que Monsieur Eric MEVELEC, Direction Régionale des Affaires Maritimes, ont permis de faire le point sur les résultats du Grenelle de la Mer et sur les attentes souvent très différentes des élus, des industriels et des protecteurs de l'environnement.

L'après-midi, l'atelier proposé par Philippe DUCHÊNE et Stéphane Alain RIOU (pôle Economie et Développement du Littoral) a réuni une trentaine de personnes sur le thème de la gestion dynamique des places dans les ports de plaisance.

Merci à tous les collaborateurs de l'entreprise pour cette réussite, et particulièrement à Sylvie Baudry qui s'est chargée de l'organisation.

Atelier – petit-déjeuner de 10h à 11h sur le thème "Filière nautique : Le parcours nautique et les gisements d’emplois associés".
Le pôle ‘Economie et Développement du Littoral’ de CREOCEAN accompagne les porteurs de projets publics et privés du nautisme léger à la grande plaisance, en France et à l’étranger. L’atelier proposé a été un moment privilégié d’échanges sur les pratiques plaisancières et les gisements d’emplois associés. CREOCEAN a illustré la thématique par des retours d’expérience récents sur le littoral Manche-Atlantique et en Méditerranée.

Animé par Stéphane Alain RIOU et Adrien SANQUER – CREOCEAN pôle EDL + invités. Monsieur Jean-François FOUNTAINE, Président de la FIN, a participé à cet atelier.

CONFÉRENCE SUR LE DÉVELOPPEMENT DE L'EMPLOI NAUTIQUE À BINIC (22)

Côtes d’Armor Développement a organisé le jeudi 22 octobre à Binic une conférence sur le développement de l’emploi nautique.

Cette journée d’information a réuni environ 70 participants, élus littoraux et services des collectivités, gestionnaires de ports et responsables d’entreprises qui recherchent des solutions dans ce domaine.

Créocéan a participé activement à cette conférence. Philippe DUCHÊNE, Ingénieur Statisticien Économiste, Spécialiste en économie et développement portuaire, a assuré la coordination des contenus et l'animation de cette conférence . Emmanuel JAHAN, Ingénieur en aménagement et environnement littoral dans le pôle "Economie et Développement du Littoral" et Gwenn BOULZENNEC de SCE - Nantes, ont fait une présentation sur le thème "Le contexte réglementaire des aménagements économiques en milieu littoral".

From 6th to 8th October 2009 in Lorient, took place the first EUROPEAN LITTORAL EXHIBITION (SALON EUROPEEN DU LITTORAL). • Integrated Coastal Zone Management
The coastal zone (CZ) is the most important global area of human habitat exposed to this threat, where the human niche continues to expand, harvest, and discharge waste at the expense of resident ecosystems and of future human generations. The ICZM addresses this issue, but improvements are needed in its methodologies and interface with policy. CREOCEAN uses multidisciplinary framework for making integrated environmental assessments, of change in complex Coastal Zone systems. This framework provides the qualitative and quantitative interpretations, tools, and strategies that will greatly enrich the capacity of decision-makers to reverse these ongoing trends towards true Sustainable Development.

• Environment monitoring and auditing
CREOCEAN offers a good experience in environmental monitoring studies, including terrestrial and marine environment. Marine investigations involve the identification and characterisation of effluents, determination of pollutants and environmental effects. CREOCEAN's expertise in chemistry, toxicology and biology (insuring as well sediments quality, water quality, marine flora and fauna characterisation and hydrodynamics), offers a very comprehensive know how to design and conduct environmental investigations in oil industry, chemist industry, industrial plants, mining industries. Impact studies and many other statutory documents must be undertaken in fields such as marine gravel extraction underwater dumping sites, offshore factory extension on the public maritime areas...

• Marine and aquatic ecology
CREOCEAN proposes the know how of several engineers to predict, monitor and assess immediate and long term ecological changes associated with human activities.
The firm's services cover both preliminary and comprehensive biological inventories (benthic fauna, planktonic and fish communities). This capacity is used to provide baseline data for impact assessment of dredging, dredged material disposal, submarine pipe laying, wastewater outfalls, oil exploration and development, aquaculture...
To achieve those expertises, CREOCEAN has access to a large range of instrumentation and sampling equipment for marine biological studies (grabs, sounds, sampling bottles, diving equipment...).

• Environment chemistry and toxicology
Government and industries must face increasing requirement for understanding the fate and possible effects of contaminant chemical in the environment. CREOCEAN's engineers and environmental scientists are experienced in environmental contaminants and problem definition and can provide a technical support to determine the level of concern associated with a contaminant on water quality.
CREOCEAN can offer comprehensive experience in toxicity testing for, routine monitoring and assessment in aquatic environments.

• Oceanographic and geophysical data gathering
CREOCEAN is able to ensure the most efficient handling of quality surveys, meteorological and oceanographic surveys, bathymetry, depth sounding and cartography.Used as themselves for specific needs, those data can also be used to define characteristics of areas before any project of offshore or onshore planning. The range of material enables the measurement at sea of many natural elements: currents and wave (Datawell directional buoys, Etrometa perches, Mors marigraphs, Doppler current meters), weather study (Aanderaa weather station), bathymetry and sea floor surveys by side-scan sonar (Dowty side scan sonar, computer assisted light bathymetry (BLAO), Simrad sonic depth finder). Those data are used for construction of ports, dredging operation, submarine pipe laying, wastewater outfalls into the sea, coastal erosion and beach nourishment.

• Hydrodynamic modelling
CREOCEAN has extensive expertise in the area of modelling of the physical processes in coastal seas, estuaries, lakes... and this tool is applied to all the projects that require the capability to implement calculations to anticipate and manage the functioning of a system. CREOCEAN developed a range of models and can produce two dimensional models, flow and surge simulation models (slope acceleration, wind stress and coriolis), sediment transport models, advection dispersion models and contaminant dispersion models.
Different types of application can be established: circulation models of the ocean dynamics coastal water to evaluate the impact of wastewater outfalls on marine water quality, harbour oscillation used to design coastal structures, hydrodynamics and water quality modelling for coastal development, and impact of coastal infrastructures onto the water quality.

• Environment technologies
CREOCEAN proposes the capacity to design infrastructures taking into consideration environmental constraints such as currents, tide, wave motion, sediment transport. Engineers, therefore, can dimension emissaries for wastewater treatment plants, dikes, hulks, floating landing stage, all infrastructure located on the shoreline and may be subject to natural environmental conditions.
